In this role, you will develop and maintain a robust audience taxonomy for Ulta Beauty's retail media network, UB Media. This position will leverage Ulta Beauty's rich first party data to support performance media campaigns through audience segmentation, advanced customer insight & analytics. The Manager, Audience Strategy will bring intimate knowledge of dynamic and fast moving AdTech & MarTech landscape and will help facilitate working models and relationships with agency and external partners to deliver best in class personalized marketing capabilities and execution. Furthermore, this role will be an important contributor for improving campaign processes and audience syndication & decisioning technologies.


Planning & Execution:

Create custom audiences by campaign and channels as required

Monitor and report on audience results and performance to prevent audience fatigue and inform future segmentation and targeting

Produce and maintain guidelines for audience usage and effectiveness to be deployed by sales and campaign planning and buying

Serve as a fact-finder for the current-state customer journey, both in digital engagement and in-store purchase behavior, with desire to uncover and understand major guest pain points, opportunities, and unmet needs

Builds expertise and knowledge around audience segments to help align downstream personalization strategies and tactics (content, messaging, offers, etc.) to audience needs

Leverages audience and journey insights (from Reporting & Measurement) to support the planning and development of future UB Media campaigns for brand partners


Work closely with Marketing and Data Scientists to translate business and strategy objectives into actionable and reachable audience segmentation

Work closely with Sales and Account teams to understand business objectives and translate them into audience parameters

Collaborate with external Ad Agency and Tech partners to align on audience targeting, criteria and LAL models to scale reach

Collaborate with Digital team to sync with personalization work and onsite audience targeting

Analysis & Optimization:

Incorporate A/B testing, analytics, market research, and consumer insights to both assess the impact of audience segments as well as to inform future audience strategies to grow sales, engagement, and connection with our guests and brand partners

Stay informed of consumer, technology, and eCommerce trends to identify new audiences and inform future strategy and prioritization


Recognize and adopt best practices in Retail Media Network advertising to recommend high impact audience segments that will maximize ROAS for our brand partners

Provide functional knowledge to guide on strategy, direction, and timing of future AdTech & MarTech improvements


  • 3-5 years of experience in digital advertising in audience creation and management at a publisher, ad network, Retail Media Network or eCommerce company
  • Strong experience with building custom audiences based on 1P data and ability to guide the development of lookalike models
  • Strong experience of building customer insights and analytics
  • High proficiency and extensive experience with programmatic buying and audience development tools, including but not limited to DSP, SSP, CDP, DMP, and CRM
  • Ability to work closely with other functions including Marketing, Campaign planning & buying, Tech & Data and Sales teams
  • Ability to work closely with external partners and ad agencies, especially trading desks, programmatic buying teams, and digital media buyers
  • Ability to translate business objectives and requirements into custom audience segmentations
  • Deep understanding of the digital media landscape as well as data segmentation digital media metrics, plus a general comfort working with 'big data' is required
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, growing environment, deal with ambiguity, and remain focused on execution
    The pay range for this position is $81,600 - $138,600 annual base salary with the opportunity to earn additional compensation pursuant with the Company's bonus plan. Exact pay will be based on position, experience level and geographic location.
