Job Description Job Description SG Metal & Glass is a commercial glazing contractor specializing in curtain wall, storefront systems, architectural metals, and custom-fabricated systems. We operate a 30,000 sq. ft. fabrication facility in Bridgeview and work with top general contractors throughout the Chicagoland area. We are seeking a Project Engineer / AutoCAD Drafter with commercial construction experience to support our Project Management and Fabrication teams. This is not an entry-level drafting role. We are looking for someone who understands how glazing systems are built, coordinated, fabricated, and installed. Responsibilities: • Produce detailed shop drawings in AutoCAD for curtain wall, storefront, and architectural metal systems • Manage submittal packages from creation through approval • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and general contractors • Review contract drawings, specifications, and scope documents • Develop Bills of Material (BOM) for fabrication and purchasing • Coordinate with fabrication shop and field crews • Track RFIs, revisions, and drawing updates • Assist with procurement and material tracking • Maintain organized project documentation Qualifications: • 2 years of experience in commercial construction drafting • Strong AutoCAD proficiency (required) • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings • Experience with curtain wall and storefront systems preferred • Strong attention to detail • Organized and deadline-driven Preferred: • Division 8 glazing experience • Experience working with fabrication-based contractors • Construction Management or Engineering degree Company Description Established in 1959, SG Metal & Glass, is a 60 year old Chicago based commercial glazing contractor specializing in the design, assembly and installation of aluminum curtainwalls, windows, window walls, architectural metals, miscellaneous steel, panels, column covers, sunshades and other specialty products.
