Job Description Job Description Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in
Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher
of the Visually Impaired certification and 1 years Teacher of the
Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet
these qualifications will not be considered. A K-12 educational
institution in Aurora, IL, is seeking a dedicated Teacher of the
Visually Impaired to support students with visual impairments
throughout the academic year. This contract position offers the
opportunity to apply specialized teaching methods and promote
accessible learning environments for students who are blind or have
low vision. Responsibilities include: - Assessing and identifying
students' needs related to visual impairments. - Developing and
implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) that address
vision-related learning goals. - Providing direct instruction and
support using Braille, orientation and mobility training, and
assistive technology. - Collaborating with classroom teachers,
parents, and support staff to ensure comprehensive educational
support. - Maintaining accurate records and progress reports
related to student development and accommodations. - Participating
in professional development to stay current with best practices for
teaching students with visual impairments. Qualifications and
desired experience: - Valid state teaching certification with
endorsement or certification in Visual Impairment. - Experience
teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in K-12
settings. - Strong knowledge of Braille literacy, assistive
technology, and relevant instructional strategies. - Ability to
work collaboratively with educators, families, and
interdisciplinary teams. - Excellent communication skills and
commitment to student-focused instruction. Location: Aurora,
Illinois Job Type: Contract (Complete School Year) This role
provides a meaningful chance to enhance educational outcomes for
students with unique vision needs in a dynamic school environment.
