Engineer Job Description The ideal candidate will play a key role
in the design, review, and inspection of transportation
infrastructure projects, ensuring full compliance with regulatory
standards and alignment with project specifications. Proficiency in
OpenRoads Designer and a strong working knowledge of Department of
Transportation (DOT) project requirements and standards are
essential. Responsibilities Develop transportation engineering
designs and plans for projects such as highways, roadways, tunnels,
mass transit, and aviation. Review draft designs for compliance
with federal, state, and local regulations. Perform site reviews
and studies to ensure designs are aligned with project
specifications. Update design requirements for new and existing
projects. Inspect new construction and existing transportation
structures. Essential Skills Proficiency in OpenRoads Designer.
Strong working knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT)
project requirements and standards. 5 years of experience in design
and engineering for transportation projects. Experience using
OpenRoads Design software (ORD). Experience with MDOT Standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil
Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) License is a plus. Work Environment The
position is based in the Lansing office, with a requirement to work
in the office a minimum of 2 days per week, averaging 40 hours per
week. This role provides an opportunity to develop specialized
engineering and design skills, build a portfolio of work and
projects, and work toward a Project Manager opportunity. Job Type &
Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing,
MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.86 -
$52.90/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may
depend on your job classification and length of employment.
