Manager assists with running the overall business and managing
processes to achieve sales and margin objectives. This role will
develop and implement a strategy for on-line assortment, vendor
management, pricing, and marketing for a specific group of
websites. The Category Manager will collaborate frequently with the
supply chain team, search engine marketing team, graphics design
team and web programming team and come with a drive for
results.This role offers hybrid remote flexibility! As a hybrid
position, this will require the incumbent to report to our
Bolingbrook, IL office 1 day per week and additionally for
training, vendor meetings and collaboration, as
needed.Responsibilities:
- Developing and leading long-term strategic vision for allotted
power equipment categories
- Achieve volume and sales targets for assigned projects by
creating and implementing the category management plans
- Making annual sales plans for products, promotions, and
advertising efforts, and other meaningful data
- Establishing and maintaining vendor partnerships while carrying
out negotiation strategies relative to product costs, pricing,
terms, and shipping / return issues while improving margin
opportunities
- Assisting in resolving escalated vendor related problems
(specifications, timing, quality, quantity, and delivery)
- Representing the organization to vendors, customers, and
associates as needed
- Analyzing current business trends and implementing decisions
based on the outcome of that analysis
- P&L Management and ensuring performance and financial goals
are met.
- Setting & maintaining retail pricing strategies & SKU rationale
exercises for responsible categories
- Creating inventory plan to ensure timely flow of goods
- Forecasting future sales and inventory needs and establishing a
buying plan to attain sales and margin goals
- Working closely with the site development team in related
categories
- Increasing and enhancing web traffic on-line and off-line
through search engine marketing and all other marketing efforts
that creatively promote your online store
- Providing direction to the creative team for imaging and
copywriting to ensure product presentation achieves desired
results
- Identifying areas of improvement and putting process
improvements into placeQualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field, required
- 4+ years' experience in Merchandising, Supply Chain, or
Marketing, required
- Proven analytical skills and the ability to generate meaningful
insights and evaluate product / category performance, required
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, such as pivot
tables, v-lookups, and common functions, required
- Prior experience with Power BI, including developing reports
and extracting data, preferred
- Strong math skills and solid financial competence
- Demonstrated project, time management and organization
skills
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member managing and
prioritizing multiple tasks
- Strong leadership skills
- Excellent oral and written communication
