THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE:

This role plays a pivotal role in shaping and leading the Value Realization team within the newly established Enterprise Transformation Office at Ulta Beauty. This role will inspire and engage the organization in defining, capturing and managing value for transformational enterprise initiatives and delivering on Ulta Beauty's strategic and financial objectives. This is a leadership role, leading a capability and high-performing team of 2 individuals. This role will collaborate across the Enterprise Transformation Office, as well as with senior leadership and key cross-functional stakeholders.

The Director Value Realization must demonstrate a critical blend of both strong enterprise thinking and cross-functional leadership capabilities, paired with excellent financial acumen and a track record of successful value identification, management, and capture from complex enterprise initiatives in a retail environment. The ability to influence, advise, manage and lead across cross-functional players and teams is critical. In addition, this individual must be comfortable with ambiguity, leading problem structuring and supporting the team in charting a path forward.

YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS BY:

  • Form the Value Realization team within the Enterprise Transformation Office with the VP, Enterprise Transformation, including establishing the vision, building the team and creating the operating model and ongoing enterprise approach.
  • Sit on Enterprise Strategy & Transformation leadership team and work in partnership with Enterprise Transformation leadership to develop, execute and track an integrated 'roadmap' of enterprise initiatives to achieve strategic and annual plans, specifically for the value created and realized by the organization.
  • Architect the way of working for the Value Realization team across the enterprise, particularly across the Enterprise Transformation Office, as well as with cross-functional program and project leaders.
  • Drive, lead and facilitate ongoing prioritization across Ulta Beauty's portfolio initiatives, working with Enterprise Transformation leadership, providing transparency to ensure that the right projects are moving forward and are held accountable to deliver business value.
  • Independently manage value (costs and benefits) of highly complex, transformational enterprise initiatives from identification through capture; be able to engage at the right level across multiple enterprise initiatives to drive the same.
  • Partner across the organization including with FP&A, IT, Accounting, Continuous Improvement and other areas, to understand, articulate, measure and support realization of value.
  • Advise programs' leadership, including facilitating and participating in critical program meetings (e.g., kickoffs, scoping, value case, change controls, etc.) to lead delivery of successful enterprise programs in a transparent manner.
    • Drive value realization through identifying relevant metrics to monitor at across the enterprise portfolio
      • Analyze variance of benefits against estimates, performing root cause analysis and supporting the enterprise and large cross-functional program teams in defining appropriate remedies.
      • Provide timely communications to senior management and key stakeholders on overall value status and variance analysis.
        THE ESSENTIALS FOR SUCCESS:

        • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
        • 10+ years of experience in value realization/capture, financial planning & analysis or financial reporting, and/or post-merger integration, preferably in a strategy consulting company or equivalent position in a retail environment.
        • Demonstrated experience leading teams to identify, capture and track value in transformational initiatives of large scope, scale and risk in a retail environment.
        • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on demonstrated financial acumen. Strong ability to complete quantitative analysis and analyze financial results with an enterprise lens.
        • Excellent communication skills, including ability to share ideas and information across diverse audiences to drive to business decisions. Ability to synthesize clearly and simplify the complex.
        • Exposure to and basic knowledge of program management, change management and strategic capabilities.
        • Exposure to Accounting rules and treatment strongly preferred.
        • Highly collaborative with track record of effective cross-functional leadership and proven ability to influence at all levels.
        • Enterprise thinker with ability to 'connect the dots'.
        • Looked to as a trusted, capable leader able to drive a program independently, engaging senior leadership at the right level at the right time
        • Ability to manage a team, both direct report(s) and cross-functional stakeholders on large initiatives.
        • Excellent time management, planning, management and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines and make ongoing decisions with key stakeholder input.
        • High emotional intelligence/IQ and strong relationship management skills.
        • Highest level of integrity and good judgment.
