Job Description:

Job Description Job Description Obstetrics and Gynecology - Physician Overview The Obstetrician/Gynecologist is responsible for delivering primary and comprehensive healthcare services tailored for women at a community health center that caters to underserved populations. Key duties encompass outpatient consultations, inpatient care, collaboration with nurse-midwifery services, and involvement in quality assurance and health education initiatives. Candidates must possess board certification, be bilingual in English and Spanish, and have experience in a community health environment. Client Overview This health center was established on January 4, 1989, to meet the needs of a community that had long awaited such services. The vision was to create a health center that is culturally sensitive and responsive to the needs of Chicago’s most underserved and vulnerable populations. Areas such as Pilsen, Little Village, and Back of the Yards have historically served as entry points for immigrants and continue to host a growing Mexican immigrant community alongside an increasing number of Mexican Americans. Currently, the center provides care to families and individuals who have faced barriers to healthcare access due to factors such as language and cultural differences, intimidation from traditional healthcare settings, limited awareness of available resources, and fear related to immigration status. As a result, health promotion, education, and prevention are essential components of our comprehensive programs. Job Description Summary: The Obstetrician/Gynecologist addresses the primary healthcare needs of female patients in alignment with the philosophy and objectives of the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and in partnership with the Nurse-Midwifery service. Work collaboratively with fellow physicians for patient cross-coverage in both clinic and inpatient settings when necessary. Engage in Quality Assurance activities. Participate in data collection related to maternity services. Co-sign inpatient midwife charts in medical records while serving as backup physician. Attend service and staff meetings as required. Meet regularly with the service director to review policies, procedures, and sign protocols. Support and collaborate with internship programs at the FQHC. This position mandates adherence to all written standards of the FQHC, including its Standards of Conduct, Joint Commission standards, and all policies and procedures.
