clinically competent and resourceful leader to fill
the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON - RN) position.
The outline below includes the critical job responsibilities for
the ADON position: Develops and maintains, in conjunction with and
under the direction of the Director of Nursing and Administrator,
nursing service objectives, standards of nursing practice, and the
nursing policies and procedures manual to provide the most
appropriate and comprehensive care to each resident .
Assists the Director of Nursing to recruit and retain
nursing department staff and to interview prospective personnel
Responsible in planning and carrying out programs for
orientation and training of new employees.
Assists the Director of Nursing to assure that nursing personnel
provide treatments, medications, diets, rehabilitative nursing
care, activities of daily living, protective service, and training
in self care as stated in the Care Plan to ascertain that optimum
comfort and care is provided .
Participates in discharge planning, developing, and implementing
Resident Care Plans, Nursing Assessments, etc., to meet the total
needs of the resident.
Assists the Director of Nursing and the Pharmaceutical Service
Committee in developing, maintaining, and implementing written
policies and procedures for the administration, storage, and
control of medications and supplies .
Review nurses’ notes to assure that they are informative
and descriptive of the nursing care provided and of the resident’s
response to the care. Reports problem areas to the Director of

Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest
and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the

as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever
maturity level they are currently functioning at.
Must have a valid RN license in active and good standing with no
history of disciplinary action against the license.
