The Sr. IT Architect will provide thought leadership on how IT can
enable Ulta to provide market differentiation and will need to be
an innovative thinker who is able to envision how technology can be
leveraged to solve complex business problems. This individual will
work closely with cross functional business and IT teams in a
highly collaborative, dynamic, and fast paced environment to
architect well-designed solutions that lower business and IT risk,
increase reuse, and lower the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
YOU'LL DO ALL OF THIS BY:
System Software: Evaluate new system software, reviews system
software updates and identifies those that merit action. Ensure
that system software is tailored to facilitate the achievement of
service objectives. Plan the installation and testing of new
versions of system software. Investigate and coordinate the
resolution of potential and actual service problems. Ensure that
operational documentation for system software is fit for purpose
and current. Advise on the correct and effective use of system
Systems Design: Manage the system design practice within enterprise
architecture. Influences models for the development of new
technology applications. Develop effective implementation and
procurement strategies, consistent with business needs. Ensure
adherence to relevant technical strategies, policies, standards,
and practices (including security). Partner with Decentralized
Enterprise Architecture team to align the Digital IT roadmap to the
strategic, multi-year Enterprise IT roadmap
Solution Architecture: Lead the development of architectures for
complex systems, ensuring consistency with specified requirements
agreed with both external and internal customers. Oversee the
balance between functional, service quality and systems management
requirements within a significant area of the organization.
Establishe policy and strategy for the selection of systems
architecture components, and co-ordinates design activities,
promoting the discipline to ensure consistency. Ensure that
appropriate standards (corporate, industry, national and
international) are adhered to. Within a business change program,
manages the target design, policies, and standards, working
proactively to maintain a stable, viable architecture and ensure
consistency of design across projects within the program.
Relationship Management: Develop long-term, strategic relationships
with senior stakeholders. Is a single point of contact and
facilitates access to colleagues and subject matter experts.
Maintain a strong understanding of clients' industry and business,
assist clients in the formation of IT strategies, and act to ensure
that they are offered solutions and services aligned to these
strategies. Negotiate at senior level on technical and commercial
issues. Influence the development and enhancement of services,
products, and systems, and oversee the management and planning of
Business Risk Management: Plan and manage the implementation of
organization-wide processes and procedures, tools and techniques
for the identification, assessment, and management of risk inherent
in the operation of business processes and of potential risks
arising from planned change.
Innovation: Manage, monitor, and seek opportunities, new methods,
trends, capabilities and products to the advancement of the
organization. Clearly articulate, and formally report potential
benefits from both structural and incremental change. Promote and
motivate colleagues to share creative ideas and learn from
Research: Develop research goals and build on and refine
appropriate outline ideas for the evaluation, development,
demonstration, and implementation of research. Evaluate work
carried out and may contribute significant sections of material of
publication quality. Lead research plans and identifie appropriate
opportunities for publication and dissemination of research
findings. Where necessary, design data collection tools and
techniques for both qualitative and quantitative data.
IT Governance: Develop staffing structures to support the work of
the governing authority (board, trustees, etc.) and proper
relationships between the organization and external parties. Lead
the review of management processes (and decisions) and confirms
that they are compliant with the organization's strategy for
corporate governance of information. Manage relevant standards and
the principles embedded within them. Evaluate new business
proposals and provides specialist advice on compliance issues.
Coordinate with relevant regulatory authorities. Develop policy and
standards for compliance with relevant legislation.
IT Strategy & Planning: Develop policies and standards and
guidelines for how the organization conducts IT strategy
development and planning. Lead and manage the creation or review of
an IT strategy which meets the requirements of the business.
Develop, communicate, implement, and review the processes which
ensure that the strategic management of IT is embedded in the
management and operational plans of the organization.
Information Management: Develop and communicate the organization's
strategy for managing information, ensuring that uniformly
recognized and accepted data definitions are developed and applied
throughout the organization. Ensure that the business processes and
information required to support the organization are defined and
devises appropriate standards, processes and data architectures.
Evaluate the impact of any relevant statutory, internal or external
regulations on the organization's use of information and develops
strategies for compliance. Coordinate information resources to
support digital services and analytics. Develop systems and
controls to measure performance and manage risk.ESSENTIALS FOR
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or
applicable work experience
- 12+ years of overall experience in information technology
including architecture, design and development
- 5+ years experience in complex business and technical
environments as a solutions architect is required
- Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to change.
- Possess a strong work ethic; takes pride in producing a quality
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent decision making and leadership skills.
- Ability to influence the organization to "get things done"
- Effective negotiation skills
- Self-starter requiring minimal supervision
- Experience with Ecommerce Architecture methodologies.
