GENERAL SUMMARY:Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides front desk coverage. Answers incoming calls, schedules appointments, greets patients, registers new patients in computer system, schedules laboratory and off-site diagnostic tests requested by physician, verifies insurance eligibility and interprets covered benefits. Processes patient charges by totaling fees, applying insurance coverage, calculating adjustments, and receiving and recording payments in computer system.Hours: Part time 24 hours per week. Hours vary Monday thru Friday8-430p, 730-4p or 9-530p with weekend rotation. This position is eligible for benefitsLocation: 16519 S Route 59, PlainfieldOffice: Busy Family Practice officeKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Required Education, Skills and/or Experience:High School Diploma or GEDKeyboard and computer skillsPreferred Education, Skills and/or ExperienceA minimum of three months previous business office OR healthcare-based experience Previous insurance and managed care experienceMedical terminology or coding experienceExcellent keyboarding skillsRequired Licensed/Certification:A valid driver's license is required if the incumbent is selected to perform related duties at an off-site location.
