Job Description:

This position works under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides clerical support for assigned behavioral health outpatient department.# This position is responsible for greeting and checking in patients, registering, scheduling and orienting new patients; collaborating with nursing and therapy staff to ensure patients# needs are met and any safety concerns are addressed; keeping the unit organized, collecting attendance data, assembling and maintaining patients# charts, answering telephone and intercom calls; providing routine information and relaying calls and messages.# .# In doing so, transcribes physicians# orders and enters into computer, schedules diagnostic tests and therapies for patients; assembles and maintains patients# charts, answers telephone and intercom calls; provides routine information and relays calls and messages.# The following are general characteristics of this job, although duties may vary by assigned unit or shift. # Education, Experience and/or Skills Required: One year of prior experience in producing business correspondence and documents, typing and filing Proficiency in the use of personal computer software Time management and organizational skills A high level of customer service Willingness to be trained in proper response to combative or hostile patients Ability to maintain confidentiality of information Education, Experience and/or Skills Preferred: Knowledge in Microsoft Office software#including Excel Ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines Ability to build relationships and act with kindness and empathy under stressful situation Excellent organizational skills, flexibility and ability to multitask Familiarity with basic medical terminology and hospital procedures License/Certification Required: Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross required A valid driver#s license is required if the incumbent is selected to perform related duties at an off site location.
